Fundraising Strategy and Implementation Lead - PeaceGeeks

Job Description

PeaceGeeks ( is hiring for a Fundraising Strategy and Implementation Lead to lead PeaceGeek’s Fundraising strategy, prospecting, negotiations, implementation, and outreach. The Fundraising Lead works closely with the Marketing, Communications, and Event teams (volunteers and staff) to execute the fundraising strategy. This role engages the board of directors, builds sponsor connections, and manages the grants team.

The Fundraising Lead is responsible for:

  • Manage fundraising calendar (schedule of communications and events related to stewardship and solicitation) for individual, corporate and major giving
  • Manage Individual Giving stewardship and solicitation strategy
  • Create Corporate Giving strategy & pipeline
  • Create Corporate Sponsorship strategy & pipeline
    • Plan out corporate sponsorship opportunities for the year and outreach strategy
    • Donor research
    • Identify prospects and manage volunteer support (eg. volunteer introductions)
    • Meet with potential (and existing) sponsors
    • Prepare proposals, manage creation of communications material
    • Execute and track sponsorships (creating the marketing assets as promised, tracking them, and report on them)
    • Stewardship and thank yous
  • Create Foundations & Major Gifts strategy & pipeline
    • Plan outreach strategy
    • Donor research
    • Identify major gifts prospects and manage volunteer support (eg. volunteer introductions)
    • Manage creation of communications material
    • Meet with potential (and existing) major gifts donors
    • Stewardship and thank yous
  • Roll out and support board prospecting of companies and major gifts donors
    • Create key messaging and assets to engage the board
    • Provide opportunities to the board and support their efforts
  • Grants
    • Vet grants and write grant proposals
    • Manage grant writing team
  • Plans events as required for the Fundraising strategy
  • Report on Fundraising to the board and develop standard reporting process
  • Fundraising admin and pipeline creation within Salesforce (experience an asset)
  • Manage digital analytics and tracking conversion goals
  • Optimize for conversions
  • Make risk analyses and balancing time-cost ratios to focus effort on the fundraising activities that are most appropriate and will have the highest chance of success

PeaceGeeks has several projects in motion, including an app funded by the Impact Challenge that fast-tracks refugees and immigrants in Canada on a pathway to successful resettlement with a personalized directory of settlement services, as well as a capacity building program funded by Global Affairs Canada that supports artists, activists and youth in Jordan to respond to hate and violence in online spaces.

Job Requirements

  • Education in Marketing, Fundraising, Communications, or an equivalent qualification
  • A minimum of 2 years Fundraising Strategy and Outreach experience
  • Capable of representing and communicating the PeaceGeeks brand to sponsors
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement and/ or managing stakeholder relations
  • Comfortable with and enjoy being a jack-of-all-trades
  • Strong client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • A demonstrated interest and awareness of global issues
  • A love for Research, Data, and Analytics
  • Graphic design experience is an asset
  • Experience recruiting and managing volunteers is an asset
  • Experience in the technology, non-profit or immigration sector is an asset
